At first glance, it seems like Simucube 2 Pro (SC2Pro) has a slight edge over VRS DirectForce Pro in terms of torque, with 25Nm compared to the latter's 20Nm. Both are direct drive wheels, which is a given for this level of performance.
I've seen users struggle with Simucube 2 Pro's quality control issues - some have experienced problems that sound like they're related to the power supply, while others report issues that might be software-related. One guy's SC2Pro stopped working altogether, and he suspects a failing capacitor. That's a pain I wouldn't wish on anyone. On top of that, users often mention Fanatec's ecosystem lock-in, which can be a deal-breaker for those who like to mix-and-match components. It's understandable if you're invested in the ecosystem, but it's a significant drawback for others.
The VRS DirectForce Pro has its own set of issues. Some users report problems with game recognition and FFB (force feedback), which can be frustrating, especially when trying out new games. Others mention that their wheel feels great, but the build quality is questionable - specifically, the socket guards are flimsy and prone to damage.
One thing's for sure: both wheels have their fair share of problems. But, if I'm being honest, VRS DirectForce Pro seems to have more... creative solutions to its issues. Like the time a user had to reinstall iRacing because it wouldn't recognize the wheel. Or when another user figured out that simply plugging in the cable a different way solved their FFB woes.
Don't even get me started on customer service - or lack thereof. It's like Simagic is more interested in letting users figure things out for themselves rather than providing actual support. The Facebook group and Discord are... something, but it's not exactly the kind of help you want when your $X00 wheel stops working.
After weighing all this, I'd say VRS DirectForce Pro is a better choice for someone who wants a budget-friendly option or is willing to tolerate some quirks in exchange for a lower price point. It's not without its problems, but it seems like they're more focused on getting the basics right (and making them affordable). Simucube 2 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a premium price tag and... let's just say, "questionable" quality control.
That being said, if you're dead set on having the best of the best - or have deep pockets to spare - SC2Pro might be worth considering. Just don't expect me to sugarcoat its issues for you.
